چکیده

One of the most common problems faced by designers of wireless communication systems is the spatiotemporal variations in the wireless channel which arise mainly due to the phenomenon of multipath fading which is inevitable in scattering environments that are subject to changes over time. A wide variety of pre/post processing techniques have been used to mitigate the degrading effects of such channels, but with limited improvements in performance. This paper provides an evaluation of the concept of Spatial Diversity (SD), applied to multi-antenna systems that demand modifications at the physical level the use of multiple antennas at the transmitter and/or the receiver. The performance of SISO, SIMO, MISO and MIMO systems have been evaluated and compared in AWGN and fading channels.

Analysis on Transmit Antenna Selection for Spatial Multiplexing Systems: A Geometrical Approach

In recent years, the remarkable ability of multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) wireless communication systems to provide spatial diversity or multiplexing gains has been clearly demonstrated. For MIMO diversity schemes, it is well known that antenna selection methods that optimize the post-processing signal-to-noise ratio can preserve the diversity order of the full MIMO system. On the other ...

Performance of MIMO-OFDM WLAN Systems and Antenna Subset Selection

This paper compares the packet error rate (PER) performance of several transmit/receive architectures for multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) wireless systems. We focus our study on systems based on the IEEE 802.11a/g standard. Spatial multiplexing architectures like minimum mean square error (MMSE) detection with joint encoding at the transmitter are compared to diversity architectures based...

Performance of Spatial Multiplexing and Transmit Diversity in Multi-Polarized MIMO Transmissions with Receive Antenna Selection

In this work, we consider the use of multiple antenna signaling technologies, specifically space-time block coding (STBC) and spatial multiplexing (SM) schemes, in multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) communication systems employing dual polarized antennas at both ends. The use of dual-polarized antennas theoretically double the number of virtual antennas used in the system. On the other hand,...

On the Outage Probability of a Class of Signaling Schemes for Multiple Antennas

In this work, we investigate large SNR behavior of the outage probability for a class of signaling schemes designed for flat fading Rayleigh multiple antenna systems. The analysis is performed for systems with a shortterm power constraint, thus time power control is not applicable. Our main result is the characterization of a large class of signaling schemes, all of which are guaranteed to have...

Selective Tone Reservation Method for PAPR Reduction of Spatially Multiplexed OFDM Systems

Tone Reservation (TR) is one of the well-known methods for PAPR reduction of Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) systems. In this method some sub-carriers are reserved for PAPR reduction and the symbols in these sub-carriers are selected such that the PAPR of the OFDM frame is minimized. In this paper, the iterative algorithm introduced earlier for TR method in single antenna OFDM...

A Study of Transmit Andreceive Antenna

In this dissertation we study two aspects of spatial diversity techniques used in surveillance systems and wireless communication systems. System performance can be increased signi cantly by using several receive antennas and/or several transmit antennas and exploiting the inherent spatial diversity of the communication channels. Multisensor surveillance systems are composed of several sensors ...
